Dr. Perka Shiva Kumar is presently working as an Assistant Professor at Extension Education Institute (EEI), Southern Region, Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU), Hyderabad, Telangana, with eight years of professional experience in teaching, research, extension and agricultural programme implementation. Previously, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the College of Food Science and Technology, Nizamabad, PJTAU, and as a Scientist under the Comprehensive Scheme for Studying the Cost of Cultivation of Principal Crops in India, a Government of India-funded scheme, for about four years. He completed his B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) in 2012 and M.Sc. (Agricultural Economics) from ANGRAU in 2014. He initially worked as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) at ICAR–Indian Institute of Millet Research (ICAR-IIMR) for about one year and subsequently served as an Agricultural Extension Officer in the Department of Agriculture, Government of Telangana, for about one year before joining PJTAU. He completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi, as an in-service Ph.D. scholar during 2022–2025, with his doctoral research focusing on “Assessing Climate Resilience and Adoption of Climate-Smart Agricultural Technologies among Smallholder Farmers in Telangana.” He has published 14 research papers in national and international journals, along with one book and two book chapters, and has participated in and presented his research work at several national and international conferences. His areas of interest include climate-smart agriculture, agricultural technology adoption, natural resource economics, gender and agriculture, and impact assessment. He is actively involved in teaching, research and academic guidance, and is presently serving as a research guide for M.Sc. students in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension. At EEI, he is actively involved in planning, coordinating and facilitating training programmes for extension functionaries, particularly in the areas of Monitoring & Evaluation, Impact Assessment, Extension Programme Planning, and Innovative Extension Methodologies.
