Dr. N. Praveen is a Professor with 21 years of professional experience in agricultural extension centres of the university. He has extensive experience in extension education, capacity building, farmer training, technology dissemination, frontline demonstrations, on-farm trials, and development of extension communication materials.

He served as Coordinator, District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre (DAATTC), for 12 years, during which he actively coordinated and implemented a wide range of extension activities for the benefit of farming communities.

Extension and Training Experience

During his tenure at DAATTC, Dr. Praveen organized and facilitated:

• 200 training programmes for farmers and rural clientele.
• 65 Farmer–Scientist Interaction Meetings.
• 85 radio talks and phone-in/live programmes over a period of two years.
• 13 television programmes.
• 180 demonstrations.
• 175 On-Farm Trials (OFTs).
• 120 Frontline Demonstrations (FLDs).
• Group discussions and distribution of minikits.
• 5 exposure visits.
• 75 field days.
• 10 exhibitions for the benefit of farming communities.

He has extensively contributed to agricultural extension literature through the preparation and publication of popular articles, leaflets, pamphlets, booklets, press notes, and other extension materials for the farming community.

He has also served as a resource person for 210 capacity-building programmes organized for officials of the Department of Agriculture. Through DAATTC activities, he provided extension services to farmers in the districts of Adilabad, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, and Medchal in Telangana.

ICT-Based Agricultural Extension

Dr. Praveen has expertise in the production and dissemination of voice messages and SMS-based advisories through Annapurna Krishi PrasaraSeva and KisanSarathi, two mobile-based agricultural extension services developed for farmer welfare.

He guided RAWEP students in collecting farmer-related information for uploading and disseminating agricultural advisories. He also developed six WhatsApp farmer groups and disseminated hundreds of agricultural messages and advisories to farmers.

He played an active role in the development of Mandal-wise Farming Situation Plans covering different Agro-Ecological Situations in Rangareddy district.

Major Technology Dissemination and Impact

Millet–Redgram Intercropping

Dr. Praveen conducted Frontline Demonstrations on millet intercropping with redgram in 420 acres during 2017–2020. The technology subsequently spread to approximately 6,000 acres in Rangapur, Gaddamalaiahguda, Gungal, Pedathulla, and Ghasmiyaguda villages of Yacharam Mandal.

Cotton Production Technologies

He played an active role in the large-scale popularization of stem application and closer spacing in cotton in approximately 350 acres in Ragavapur, Bompally, Kummera, Chevella, and Pargi villages.

Redgram Variety Dissemination

He facilitated the dissemination of Redgram variety PRG-176 in 200 acres in Marpally, Chevella, Doma, and Pargi villages of Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts, in coordination with Mandal Agriculture Officers.

Exposure Visits

He organized two farmer exposure visits:

• To organic farms in Mandya and Mysuru, Karnataka, during 2018.
• To Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Jagtial, during 2012, to showcase improved technologies related to paddy and oilseed crops.

Tribal Sub-Plan Activities

Dr. Praveen coordinated with the Rice Research Station, Maize Research Station, and SRTC, Hyderabad, under the Tribal Sub-Plan project during 2016–2020.

The programme focused on enhancing the productivity and profitability of rice and maize farmers in Ootupally Thanda and Pothireddypally Thanda villages of Vikarabad district, covering approximately 300 acres.

Awards and Recognitions

In recognition of his contributions to agricultural extension and farmer welfare, Dr. Praveen has received the following awards and commendations:

• Best Extension Scientist Award on the occasion of the 3rd Foundation Day Celebration of PJTSAU, 2017.
• Best Scientist Appreciation Award, presented by the Hon’ble Home Minister, Government of Telangana, Smt. Sabitha Indra Reddy, on 15 August 2012.
• Best Scientist Appreciation Award, presented by the District Collector, Government of Telangana, on 26 January 2014.
• Commendation for Meritorious Services, presented through the Department of Agriculture by the District Collector, Government of Telangana, in August 2018.
• Commendation for Meritorious Services on Republic Day, presented by the District Collector, Medchal, in 2020.

Research and Publications

Dr. Praveen has published 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented research papers at national seminars, including:

• 2nd Green Revolution, Agriculture Research Station, Adilabad, 2008.
• Sustainability of Small Farmers in Changing Agricultural Scenario, organized by RECARIA and PJTSAU, 2018.

He attended an International Conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2023, where he presented a paper titled “Impact of Frontline Demonstration in Redgram in Rainfed Situations of Vikarabad District.”

Professional Experience at Extension Education Institute

From February 2023 to April 2026, Dr. Praveen worked as Professor at the Extension Education Institute (EEI). During this period, he was actively involved in conducting mandatory off-campus training programmes for middle-level extension officers from the client states.

He was also involved in an action research project on the adoption and establishment of an Agri-Nutri Smart Village in Telangana, along with studies related to skill development programmes.

Teaching Experience

From April 2026 to September 2026, Dr. Praveen served as Professor at the College of Agriculture, Huzurnagar, Suryapet District, where he was involved in teaching undergraduate courses.

In September 2026, he rejoined the Extension Education Institute (EEI) as Professor. He is currently actively involved in conducting off-campus training programmes for middle-level extension officers and other extension-related professional activities.
